Do NOT book your flight yet, we want to make sure everything is in place first. We will let you know when it’s safe to book. For now, here is some information:
We will need to fly in to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi on May 8th, which means leaving the US on May 7th. Most flights have at least one stop in Europe. It’s important that you choose a flight that gets in to NBO between 7:00 – 9:00 pm or close to that for the convenience of our Kenya hosts who will be meeting us at the airport. We will also coordinate together our departure time from Nairobi on May 18th as our trip grows closer.
One advantage to having a May trip is that flights are generally less expensive. Usually between $750 and $1000. We have paid over $1700 for flights during the summer months.
Trip participants who live close by each other may choose to book as a group. It may be possible for our entire group to meet up in Europe and fly in to Nairobi together.
We do have a travel agent that can help us line up flights if that is a less expensive option. We will stay in communication about planning our flights!
When searching for flights, make sure to check baggage restrictions. There are some carriers that charge for a 2nd bag or that won’t allow a carry on bag.
